What apps do Moldovans waste their time on.

As of the beginning of 2024, about 2.14 million Internet users have been registered in Moldova, and the most popular social networks among Moldovans are TikTok, Facebook and Instagram.

According to statistics provided by DataReportal, in January, 1.58 million users in Moldova accessed social networks, 78,000 fewer users than in January 2023. Thus, in the first month of the year, 1.23 million Moldovans did not use social networks, which shows that 36.5% of the population remained offline, reports Știri.md.

The data also shows that 73.6% of the total Internet user base in Moldova used at least one social media platform in January 2024. 51.2% of social media users in Moldova were women, while 48.8% were men.

According to the data, as of the beginning of 2024, 1.58 million users aged 18 years used TikTok intensively, and TikTok’s reach in Moldova is equivalent to 73.6% of the total local internet user base.

At the beginning of the year, 51.2% of all TikTok users in Moldova were female, while 48.8% were male.
According to the same data, as of early 2024, Facebook had 1.30 million users, and 100,000 new users registered on the app between January 2023 and January 2024.

For a more recent context, the same data shows that the number of users marketers could reach with Facebook ads in Moldova decreased by 100,000 between October 2023 and January 2024.
At the beginning of 2024, 57.5% of Facebook’s audience in Moldova was female, while 42.5% was male.

Data published in Meta’s advertising tools indicates that Instagram had 1.03 million users in Moldova in early 2024.

The company’s regularly reviewed figures suggest that Instagram’s ad coverage in Moldova was equivalent to 30.5% of the total population at the beginning of the year.

However, Meta only allows people aged 13 and over to use Instagram, so it’s worth noting that 36.7% of the “eligible” audience in Moldova is using Instagram in 2024.

At the beginning of 2024, 63.5% of the Instagram ad audience in Moldova was female, while 36.5% was male.

Data from GSMA Intelligence shows that there were 4.24 million mobile cellular connections in Moldova at the beginning of 2024.

However, it is worth noting that some people use more than one mobile connection, for example they might have one connection for personal use and another for work, so it is not unusual for mobile connection figures to significantly exceed the figures for the total population.
