After the interview with Platon journalist Dorin Galben dismissed from TV8
TV8 announces that it has decided to terminate its contract with Dorin Galben, author and moderator of the talk show “Freedom”, after the interview with businessman Veaceslav Platon.
The announcement was made by journalist Mariana Rață and subsequently published on the official Facebook page of TV8. “TV8 announces that it has decided, by mutual agreement, for reasons of editorial policy and the values of our TV station, to terminate the contract of collaboration with Dorin Galben, author and moderator of the talk-show “Freedom”.
Dorin Galben was at the centre of a scandal after conducting an interview with businessman Veaceslav Platon, which was broadcast on 10 March.
Dorin Galben came up with a reaction shortly afterwards:
I think it is important to come up with some clarifications regarding the interview with V. Platon, which I published today on my Youtube channel.
I have said this before and I will say it again. I don’t take money for the interviews I do, even if various speculations appear. That is a basic principle and always will be. Every time I invite people from different walks of life, with different outlooks on life and different political preferences to my project. I don’t judge or condemn anyone. I am a journalist, but not a judge or a prosecutor. What I can do, is to ask questions to the guest, and those who watch – make their own conclusions. For me, that is democracy and freedom of expression.
I conducted the above interview last week in London. I bought my own plane ticket. I paid for my hotel accommodation myself. I paid the film crew alone. I did a lot of research for this interview, but it seems I should have done more. While we live, we learn.
About duration. On Youtube there is no time limit for an interview, that’s why I talk to all the guests exactly as long as they talk about something relevant and interesting to the audience. I make a summary of the talk and everyone can choose which portion to watch.
I will also invite prosecutors who are investigating V. Plato and other politicians who fled the country. The audience should also hear counter-arguments to the statements made in the interview.
